GELEX’s CSR activities have been persistently carried out over many years, becoming a core element in building a sustainable brand.
Dual Benefits of CSR
Today’s consumers are very concerned about social and environmental issues. They expect companies not only to provide good products or services but also to be socially responsible.
According to research by Kantar (a subsidiary of WPP plc, specializing in market insights, consulting, and analytics, based in London), companies that are highly regarded by the public for their positive social impact experience a brand value growth rate that is 175% higher than those with low impact.
In addition to enhancing brand image, CSR plays a vital role in attracting and retaining talent. It also boosts the company’s appeal to investors by demonstrating a commitment to sustainable development.
In Vietnam, many companies are focusing on building effective CSR strategies, actively engaging in long-term community activities with specific commitments that are thoroughly implemented with high determination from leadership down to every employee. Notable examples include Vinamilk, ACB, VinGroup, and FPT.
With extensive operations across various fields and a system of nearly 50 member companies along with around 10,000 employees, GELEX has become an important part of the economy and as created significant impacts on stakeholders.
Therefore, GELEX’s development strategy is not only aimed at creating economic value but also places significant emphasis on sustainable development, focusing on the environment and the overall happiness of the community.
GELEX Prioritizes Funding in Healthcare, Education, and Human Development
GELEX’s commitment to sustainability is deeply ingrained in all of the Group’s activities. In addition to its business strategy, which focuses on developing green, environmentally friendly products using modern production technology; the real estate projects, industrial zones, and office buildings meet international environmental standards. GELEX also provides a civilized working environment and comprehensive welfare policies to facilitate employee development. Notably, the company remains dedicated to its mission for the community through practical activities.
Through social activities and relationships, GELEX provides scholarships to underprivileged students in various localities such as Hanoi, Ha Nam, and Nghe An, helping them gain more motivation to attend school and pursue their studies.
Last November, GELEX Group supported the Miet Vuon Library in Hoa Ninh Commune, Long Ho District, Vinh Long Province by adding bookshelves, shelves, and creative learning materials.
This area has challenging transportation conditions, lacking connecting roads and requiring ferries and waterway transport. Difficult travel leads to a lack of cultural environments for students and residents to engage in activities and study. Each GELEX bookshelf sent to the library represents a heartfelt wish to promote reading activities and enhance the quality of reading sessions, making this a place for healthy and beneficial cultural activities, contributing to positive changes in reading culture and giving the local youth more opportunities to access knowledge.
In the field of healthcare, GELEX has also shown concern for frontline healthcare facilities that often face overcrowding. A representative from GELEX stated, “Providing additional resources to hospitals helps the community gain access to quality healthcare services. In particular, we also want to contribute to creating an effective working environment for medical staff who are always responsible and passionate about their mission to heal and save lives.”
Recently, GELEX donated a package of medical equipment with a total pledged funding value of up to VND 130 billion to the Hanoi Children’s Hospital, including specialized machinery to enhance diagnostic and treatment efficiency. The company has also fully funded the renovation of the A9 Emergency Center and the Stroke Center at Bach Mai Hospital (Hanoi).
Over three decades of development, GELEX has not only established its position as a leading investment group in Vietnam but has also made significant contributions to social welfare activities. The group has participated in the “Peak Month for the Poor” and social welfare initiatives in 2024 in Hoan Kiem District, Hanoi, with a spirit of solidarity and mutual support, creating a safety net for the poor, near-poor, and those in difficult circumstances, providing them with opportunities to change their lives and achieve a better quality of life.
The collective efforts of the GELEX family to share with the community clearly reflect the company’s culture and is one of the important factors that help GELEX steadily and sustainably develop while creating value for the community and society.
