Specifically, the People’s Committee of Quang Tri province approved for Dien Gio Huong Phung Company Limited to invest in Huong Phung 3 Wind Power Plant with a designed capacity of 30 MW.

The project had a total investment of over VND 1,580 billion, using nearly 9 hectares of land in Huong Phung commune, Huong Hoa district; the project implementation schedule was from 2019-2021, the project’s operation term was 50 years.

The People’s Committee of Quang Tri province also approved for Quang Tri GELEX Energy Company Limited to invest in GELEX 1, 2, and 3 Wind Power Plant projects; each plant had a capacity of 30 MW.

The projects had a total investment of nearly VND 3,660 billion, using about 24 hectares of land in Huong Linh commune, Huong Hoa district and Huong Hiep commune, Dakrong district; the project implementation schedule was from 2019-2021, the project’s operation term was 50 years.

Over the past time, Quang Tri attracted many strategic investors who were capable of capital, technology, and had large-scale wind power projects. Up to now, the province had 1 wind power plant put into operation, 4 plants under construction and dozens of projects under investigation.

In the coming time, Quang Tri province would have 4 more wind power projects put into operation, each with a capacity of 30 MW. Also, the total wind power output would reach 800 MW.

The province also planned three wind power development zones with a total area of over 6,700 hectares. Specifically, zone 1 covered an area of 2,789 hectares, including Huong Son, Huong Lap, and Huong Phung communes of Huong Hoa district. Zone 2 covered an area of 2,882 hectares, including Huong Linh, Huong Lap, and Huong Hiẹp communes of Huong Hoa district. Zone 3 had an area of 1,036 hectares, including the coastal areas of Gio Linh, Vinh Linh and Con Co island.

Attracting investment in wind power was one of the priorities of Quang Tri province in order to turn the locality into the energy center of the central region.
